Brother HL-5000 Series Printer:
Drum Counter Reset
June 6, 2014 / Support Centre
/When you replace the drum in your Brother HL-5000 Series Laser Printer, you need to reset the Drum Counter. This is the counter which tells your printer how old the drum is, and when it next needs to be replaced. If you don’t reset the drum counter, it will keep telling you that the drum unit needs to be replaced.
How to Reset your Brother Drum Counter:
- Open the front cover (where you insert/remove the drum/toner).
- Press and hold the “Go” button until all of the four LEDs are on.
- Once all of the LEDs are lit, release the button.
- Close the front cover.
By following this procedure, your Brother HL-5000 series drum counter should be reset. If it was telling you to replace your Drum prior to this, it should now have stopped.
This guide is suitable for laser printerĀ models such as:
- Brother HL-5030
- Brother HL-5040
- Brother HL-5050
- Brother HL-5070N
If you have the Brother HL-1600 or Brother HL-1800 series printer, here is the procedure to reset the Drum Counter:
- Open the front cover (where you insert/remove the drum/toner).
- Press and hold the “Go” buttonĀ for four seconds.
- Release the button.
- Close the front cover.
